전설이 된 비틀즈의 '실질적인' 마지막 앨범이다. 이 뒤에 나온 앨범인 'Let It Be'는 이전에 녹음되었으나 마지막으로 나온 앨범이었으니, 마지막으로 녹음된 앨범은 이 앨범 'Abbey Road'이다. 히든트랙인 Her Majesty를 제외하면, 마지막 곡의 제목이 The End라는 사실은 의미심장하다. "And in the end, the love you take is equal to the love you make" . 이것이 그들의 마지막 가사였다.

트랙 9에서 16까지 이어지는 이른바 'The Medley'는 한곡의 대서사시를 보는 듯한 느낌을 준다. 모든 것이 여기서 시작하고, 여기서 흥하며, 여기서 끝난다.
